oh, madame bovary, you are such a fool. flaubert presents her with such sympathy, as overt critique is hardly necessary. the boredom you can sympathize with mixed with egotism led to her foolishness for believing she deserved "more", while failing to appreciate that she already had more than what she was searching for. searching for romance she overlooked love, and she lost all of life's comforts trying to attain luxuries. ...more

Great voice acting, absolutely no likable characters. I didn't care what happened to any of them. Emma Bovary is boring, weak, and helpless--she embodies none of the characteristics that make a compelling, strong female lead. ...more
