I finally read this classic and understand why it is a classic. Enjoyable read, interesting and complicated characters who are well developed by Fitzgerald.
Discontent, greed, sacrifice, devotion, and deep and shallow characters are interwoven beautifully to create such a compelling and mystifying novel. I read a series of letters written by Fitzgerald regarding this novel which were intiguing and caused me to like the book even more. He is truly a great artist and his many messages and meanings were wholey intentional and thought provoking. Had no idea what this book was about. I was pleasingly surprised to find it quite good. I always love to read about the jazz era. It was also a fast read. Read it in a few hours and that is always a plus.
Brilliant multi-level novel of America in 1920s.
