Grant buried his face in the loose locks of her hair, rubbing his cheek against the scarlet silk. “When you touch me, I’m not sure if I’m in heaven or hell.”
“Is that good?”

The story was good, but the writing bogged down the tale. The reader is told that Grant is a society darling for novelty's sake, every minor character is described in detail. It is possible to define a personality by writing a scene; "mrs buttons parsimonious mouth tightened at the sight of the bundle in Grants arms" instead of a few paragraphs describing her. It was a book I could skim through, skipping pages and paragraphs and not missing a bit of plot. Ending, not a surprise either.
