Another Newfoundland writer, recommended to me by Paulette Cake, the cover of Sylvanus Now actually has cod fillets hanging on a line to dry in the sun. The book's first page has an apt quote of two passages from the book of Revelation (Bible) - the second speaking of a beast rising up out of the sea. In the context of this book this would be a beast who would devour the cod fishery, main income source for the Newfoundland outports including this book's Cooney Arm. This book has a historical set
