I'm reading the Gillian Flynn books in published order as some youtube book reviewers have recommended. I really enjoyed this one. I've also read sharp objects by the same author. It's hard to say which I like better there were aspects of this I liked over Sharp Objects and the reverse for others.

I was not prepared for how completely dark and twisted this story would be. (And yes, I've read Sharp Objects and Gone Girl and The Grown Up.). Almost everyone in this story, including the MC, is thoroughly unlikeable. Everyone one of them makes a series of awful decisions. It's rare for me to enjoy a story when I don't like the protagonist, but Ms Flynn is a master at this sort of thing. I didn't like Libby, but i empathized. One of Flynn's pre-Gone Girl books. I'd really give this a 3.5 rating; since we can't give 1/2 stars, I decided to round up because I love Flynn's sense of twisted.
