Agatha Donkar Lund
I freely admit it: I'm a sucker for people writing about Baltimore accurately and with great affection, but what really makes Lippman's mysteries for me is that the mysteries are so good -- in all three that I've read so far, I haven't seen the endings coming at all, which is rare for me and mystery novels. Two thumbs way up.

(Word of warning: read them in order if you're going to read them; I'm reading them all out of order and it is definitely not the way to go.)

Lippman grows stronger with every book - I like the way that this one unfolds slowly without sleight-of-hand or cheap tricks. Lippman knows how to stand back a little bit and let her characters just be natural in furthering the story.
