What Members Thought

Some great writing and characters as Theroux crosses Asia by train (mostly) 30 years ago. Things weren't that different from when I did my 80-Days Trip Around the World in 1979; I felt some kinship. It was a bit uneven in places, though overall enjoyable.

This is my second go.
I first read this book when I lived in Vietnam about 20 years ago. I was enamored and humored by most of the descriptions the author gave throughout the book. Having been a fellow traveler most of my adult years this book hit home in a big way over and over again. The author is sprite and well educated and it shows in his writing.
Paul Theroux would be a great person to have dinner with.
