I read this for a year-long challenge - the prompt was "a book published in 2000" - and I'm pretty sure I'd read it before, probably right about the time it came out originally, and man. It is an entire TRIP. Marian Keyes writing chicklit in the late 90s is clearly the grandmother of all the romance and adult contemporary that we get to read today, and all the bones of what we read now are there in this book, while it also is completely nothing like any of our 2024 romances. This book was mildly interesting for a while but I got tired of most of the characters, most of whom were not especially interesting in the first place. I would have put this book down if I hadn't read it for work reasons.

No books available that I would normally read so i snaffled my daughters. Quite enjoyed it to my surprise although all to neat an ending
