Read this book for the Bahamas as part of Reading Around the World challenge. Read for a glimpse of island life, it was worth the read. I would caution that there are some parts of this book that should be cut. Chapter Two involves a "comical" rape which results in a pregnancy, played for laughs. Not funny. There is another chapter that would make all animal sympathizers wince as it describes the capture and pummeling of a rat with a rock. Otherwise, the stories from various points of view show
