This was a beautiful book, and every bit as good as its predecessor, The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry". Until the very end. I don't completely understand how we are supposed to interpret something about the ending, but I don't want to throw spoilers.

Aside from that, though, it was much like Harold Fry, in that it was insightful, and wise. It explores life, death, illness, family, marriage, love, aging, and so much more, in a beautiful way. You will laugh, and you will cry and now I wonder

The other half of the story started in The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry. Ms. Joyce insists that this is not a sequel to her previous book, The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry, but is a companion volume and I completely agree. This does not follow on from her earlier book but is written from Queenie's perspective as she lies in the hospice awaiting Harold's arrival.

She had to stay alive until he got there. As he walks, he revisits his heretofore unexamined life. He learns much about himself and life. But we don’t really get to know the object of his pilgrimage. That’s this book- Queenie’s side of their friendship, and her story.

Like the prior book, it starts out charmi

Charming but tragic other view of the unlikely pilgrimage. It started out rather slowly, but I found myself really enjoying Queenie as the book went on.
