I really enjoyed this novel. After the initial first few pages (which were super interesting) it started getting a little slow and you begin to wonder how it's possible a whole book is left to read - but stick with it. It's got an amazing twist and then just gets better and better.

A psychological thriller in which nothing thrilling really happens, unless you consider incessant physical and verbal domestic abuse and assault to be thrilling. I was really put off by how much abuse was depicted in this story and the fact that Mackintosh gave the abuser multiple sections in which to express his point of view. It felt like abuse for entertainment’s sake which is never OK in my book. Nothing even remotely exciting happens until at least 35% of the way into the novel and then it
