This is the first book in a series where a Scottisch-Italian forensic scientist takes a bet to solve an old suspected crime in France. The initial case was a disappearance 10 years ago of a political scientist and teacher. Enzo proves murder and chases clues left by the murderer all over the country. The riddle drives the plot, and makes for interesting reading once the chase (and the body count) starts.

I like Peter May's shetland Island series but this is the first Enzo that I've read. It is wonderful. Enzo is challenged to find the culprit in a cold case which leads him through Paris and other cities in France digging up what he hopes are the bones of a man killed many years ago. Fascinating stuff and Enzo is just eccentric enough to be truly engaging. ...more
