The Raven Boys reminded me a little of Beautiful Creatures in that a small town has a lot of paranormal activity, and is really a character in the story.

Blue Sargent is the only normal member of a not-so-normal psychic family. Her energy has the ability to make those around her stronger, therefore useful. Every psychic she has met has predicted that she if she kissed her true love, he would die. So she swears to never kiss a guy. Then she meets the Raven Boys.

This was eminently enjoyable to read. If I were still the teenager that is this book's target market, I have a feeling that "imminently enjoyable" would have been upgraded to something more gushing with praise. But even now, I put the second book on hold from the library at the halfway through point and already know I'll be rushing there when it arrives. ...more

Better than I expected, even with the "love triangle." I had been avoiding this series for a while because of "Shiver" which was too much with the insta-love. I'm glad that I finally took the plunge since there are interesting elements such as ley lines, psychics, and ghosts.
