I read this when it was published in 2012 and enjoyed enough to keep it on the bookshelf until rereading it this week. The story opens with a young man named Stuart in the middle of the Forth Bridge (just outside Edinburgh), and a menacing encounter with some kind of tough guy he seems to know from his past. We learn that Stuart is back home for the first time in five years to attend a funeral, but has to seek dispensation from a local crime boss for permission to be in the area.
