Perhaps I wasn't supposed to walk away from this book thinking, "I hate men, and I'm never going to Somalia" but I did. Lindhout recounts her years as a wanderluster traveling around the world and encountering a variety of men whom I found repugnant (and doing other stuff, yes yes) which evolved into her self-taught journalistic endeavors while still a young woman living in the Middle East and Africa.
