• I really enjoyed this book and made sure that I found the time to read and finished it with two sessions

The excellent story of a retired orthopedic surgery now suffering from dementia and under suspicion of murdering her best friend. The story is more about the way Jennifer's mind is unravelling and less a crime story. Compelling read with a satisfying conclusion. 10/10

This book takes a bit to get into since at first it is not clear who the narrator is. One you understand that the female surgeon who is suffering from Alzheimer's is that main narrator it becomes more and more intriguing to follow her train of thought and see what bits of information are easy for her to recall and which are not. An intriguing premise that does an excellent job at capturing the frustratingly piecemeal nature of how dementia affects the mind, although the mystery element is less successful largely due to a weak conclusion that lacks narrative force. LaPlante does, however, do an excellent job with Dr. White's voice and how her disease filters her world.
