The over 50 Inspector Montalbano, out for a swim, bumps into a floating corpse. Using his swim suit to drag the corpse back to shore leaves him naked - resulting in him being shown in the buff on the evening news. Feeling his age and some discontent about his life, Montalbano contemplates quitting. His current investigation into the disappearance and murder of a young boy ends with Montalbano being shot.
Camillari continues to make a point while providing a humorous asides that keep the reader from feeling too bad about a death.
A decent mystery, but lacking the wry humor that sets the series apart.
