I enjoyed the author's writing style. She was funny even though her story was sad. I also enjoyed the fact that the setting was local-she grew up right across the river from me! ...more

Mostly I found this interesting because it was set in Danvers so I knew a lot of the locations. The story is an often told one - that of a child learning to fend for herself because her mother is a druggie. But she is a good writer and kept the scenarios fresh and interesting. It also was amazing that all the neglect could happen when she lived so close to relatives. Hope she stays sober and can finally put that scholarship education to use.
