Matilda is a very smart little girl who taught herself to read and do complex math before starting kindergarten. Unfortunately Matilda has clueless parents who'd rather watch television than read. When Matilda starts school she gets a caring teacher but the school has a horrible headmistress. There were a lot of goofy scenes involving the headmistress and some odder events towards the end of the book that to me didn't fit with the rest of the story. This was a great first week of school read aloud! We had a lot of fun reading it. It's a book everyone can read and will enjoy.
