3.5 stars... a little slow moving, but the narration (audio) was good and as always, Moriarty's characterizations were very good.
I depart from my usual opinion that most books are better without the epilogue. In this case, the epilogue made the story. ...more

Enthralling stories of the lives of several families are the backdrop for this novel. The hook that catches you is the envelope found by Cecilia in her husband's handwriting that simple reads, "Only to be opened after my death." Now, of course, you know she is going to open it but when and so I could not stop reading until she did---Wow a pretty important secret!. The neighbors in this suburb of Sydney, Australia, seem to be so different but there lives and connected in numerous ways. Failed mar

A good holiday read, and one which I found handy one night when I couldn't sleep: enough to be entertaining, not enough to need too much thinking once you've sorted out the characters and how they fit together. There is a lot of inner dialogue in this book, looking back I think that is how much of the story is told, and it is cleverly done. There are some wry comments on relationships, and marriage in particular, interwoven with the story. Some authors would have finished several chapters before

The premise of this book intrigued me. Unfortunately, that was all it had to offer. Characters that seem to randomly crash into the story at times and so predictable it is absurd. I really wanted to like this book, I wanted it to make me wonder "what would I do?". I didn't. I felt she spent too much time with too many characters and in the end I just couldn't take the leap required to buy the convoluted connections.

4.5 Stars! I really liked the writing in their book. It interweaves a story of different women in Australia. They have tragedies and regular life that go back and forth with some complicated scenarios. I like how Liane Moriarty made the main characters seem like they might be friends of mine. This is suspenseful and clever. Be aware that it does contain infidelity and a murder mystery.

My wife read most of this aloud in the car as we drove through parts of Europe on a vacation in Aug 2017. Absolutely loved this book--Moriarty does it again and this is possibly my favorite of her three books I've read. Fascinating & interesting/intriguing characters, facing some shocking and tough things. Love the way the author so deftly weaves the story of three different characters into the complex story web, with its impact on each. Can't wait to read another Moriarty novel.

This fast paced mystery novel takes place in Australia and intersects the lives of 3 families. You'll never guess the Husband's Secret. It is so interesting to talk about and I'm wondering if you were in this situation, would you stay or would you leave. I would leave. Definitely.
