A great read--even better since I listened to it and the reader was superb.
Noticed this is the pick for the Ladies Home Journal book club (I didn't even know they had a book club!!) so decided to try it. RIGHT OFF I loved it!
But WHY, WHY, WHY is it required that every novel published today have at least one character with a STUPID NAME??? IN this case we have an adult daughter (44 or so) named, get this!, CLOVER?? I cannot even fathom someone having to go thru life with that. UGH! And, for the ...more

I loved this book. The language so crisp, the colliding of worlds, the impact of good intentions and regret, but most of all how well Julia Glass understands humanity. One of those books when you close the cover (if you are reading a physical book) that you do so slowly, with regret, but your mind still swirling thinking through the arc of the story.

This is probably not a great book but I loved it. it is set in a fictional town west of Boston which turns out is similar to Lincoln which is practically next door. It is also set in Cambridge, Boston and most likely Gloucester. I loved the characters, the story (which is really just set of situations), the family dynamics, and the ending. The ending is so filled with hope, new beginnings and the power of family and friendship. Julia Glass is an amazing writer and just a pleasure to read. As goo
