The only Chabon I haven't read; somehow in my 2002 Chabon-reading binged I missed this one.
I don't think I'll ever find a Chabon that I love as much as I love Wonder Boys; there's just something about that novel that hits every single one of my buttons. That said, this was enjoyable but strange. Clearly a first novel, and clearly Chabon gets better, but I found the ending strange and a little upsetting, and not even upsetting in a good way.
