What Members Thought
Black has a gift for sense-related imagery (he's particularly adept with talking about smell influences perceptions), but the plot in this feels stale. While I suspect that it's a conscious authorial choice to leave April as a cipher, it ends up deflating the whole book when it's hard to understand her connections to the world Black presents.
