This book nearly lost me in the beginning- during the early part where it becomes obvious that one brother is getting drawn into a political movement, there was far too much detail about the movement itself for me. Persisting on, I was rewarded again when we left that behind, and the group of flawed and damaged characters forged on with their lives, always haunted by the mistakes of their past. This is really a character driven novel that relates the story of four people who are driven by their own ambitions to the point where their abilities to relate to other people is severely compromised.
