What a sad but yet amazing story! This is the story of Saba, a girl in Iran, who has lost her sister and her mother, and through her grief has built up elaborate stories about what actually happened to them. She lives with her father, but it is after the religious mullahs have taken over Iran, and life is dangerous for Christians (which they are, but which they have to hide) and especially for women and girls, who can be arrested, beaten, and even killed for no reason in the name of sharia law.

The plot is secondary to the comparison of life in Iran versus that in the United States. Since my knowledge of Iran is negligible it was for me a very educational novel.
Loved this story set somewhere along the Caspian Sea coast in northern Iran--among the Gilaki people. Precious people. Good insights into their culture. Well-crafted story & varying perspectives in this tale of two sisters & a mother & father. Read on Kindle.
