Strange instructs Morse to find Valerie Taylor, a teenage girl who went missing just over 2 years ago. Morse is disinclined to take the job since it's a cold case and just a missing girl at that but within a few minutes he convinces himself that Valerie Taylor is dead and is much happier about the job... Then Strange gives him the letter that Valerie has sent her parents proving that she is very much alive.
