What Members Thought

One-sentence summary of the novel: “You do not learn a language without entering into a relationship with the people who spoke it with you.” I liked the way Grenville relates only necessary details. The story itself is quiet and cerebral, and sometimes my attention wandered. I found Lieutenant Silk, the friend to the hero Lieutenant Rooke, to be more interesting than the hero.

So far this one is only just "ok"....I'm giving it a while longer though--he's finally off to Australia.
