Tragic and heavy novel focusing on an Irish private fighting in World War I. In general, I enjoyed the book, however I found the dialogue stunted and the characters distant. I always felt like I was in a fog while reading it.

Through this book I had a glimpse inside the irish society from the start of the 20th century. Of course this is not explaining entirely the conflict in Norhtern Ireland but I had some clues regarding this. This is a very interesting novel depicting the feelings and roles of irish soldiers in the first world war.
My copy of this book is in romanian.
