This little volume made me remember how much I love short stories and how skillfully Hemingway put his stories together. The dialogue is just perfection, and a whole life is distilled in a few swift strokes. Brilliant.

I started reading this after seeing "Midnight in Paris." This is definitely a great collection, but The Sun Also Rises really can't be beat. ...more

As an audiobook, Stacy Keach’s delivery took a lot away from the stories. Overall not as compelling re-reading much later in life than the first time. Once one has had his own adventures, these didn’t shock and inspire as they did an impressionable kid.

Well written, gritty. A story of a man who as he approaches death looks back over his life with regret. I read the short story and also listened to it read by Charlton Heston. I enjoyed the audio version more as it was well read by Heston.
