This one strains credulity. Not only is this a bit too similar in nature to book #7, Harry Hole's department pays to send someone to hunt him down in Hong Kong where he fled after the "Snowman," pays both his substantial gambling debts and his flight back to Norway - because Hole is apparently the only one believed to be able to pursue another possible serial killer in Norway and, by solving this case, can also help his boss win a political turf battle against centralization of murder investigat

As always, Nesbo and Harry Hole is a teriffic combination that almost never failed XD
After the previous acclaimed novel, The Snowman, that is one of the best from Nesbo's books, it seemmed a bit hard to make a worthy sequel. But, thankfully, Leopard is still very good. Another serial killer, yes, and a bit over the top in the end, but this book is still far from a cliche, with very dark, disturbing details and thick Nordic noir vibe. I always enjoy a Harry Hole story. Nesbo is actually a beautiful writer, which is not as common in the mystery genre. I’m often caught by the beauty of his prose.
And then there’s poor Harry, a character I can’t help but love. He’s so very flawed. This book really focuses on his character - how he’s driven, against all odds, to simply catch the bad guy.
