What Members Thought
Devastating. The toll of the siege on Leningrad's civilian population is hard to fathom, though this book made it graphically clear. Only a visit to the mass graves outside Leningrad (as it was called when I was there) had as profound an effect on my understanding of the price Russia paid in the Second World War.
