A forensic archaeologist is called into identify some buried bones and ends up involved in a murder investigation. A good story with a few plausible suspects and a sub-plot which will no doubt stretch through the series.
I enjoyed the archaeology-history angle of this British mystery, and liked the heroine, Dr. Ruth Galloway, forensic archaeologist--smart, down-to-earth, and vulnerable, yet she did not run out to do knuckle-headed things by herself like author Kathy Reich's forensic anthropologist, Dr. Brennan, does in all her books. I was intrigued by the dramatic and harsh landscape of the saltmarsh in Norfolk, so I was a little disappointed to read in the end notes that the the author had made it up. I liked
