I liked this book. I have had it sitting around forever and just now got to it. It is about a boarding school (High School) in Maryland. Lee (the main character) is an outsider trying to figure out who she is and who she should be friends with. Along the way she befriends a lot of minorities. The book is about social status, race and just growing up. I thought it was well-written. It was published in 2005 and was a best-seller back then. I think it was written well and worth a read.

This book does not run, it does not jog, it does not walk, it doesn't even stroll. This book plods in reverse. I did something with this book that I have only ever done with maybe 4 or 5 other books in all the years I've been reading, I stopped reading this book in the middle and had no desire to pick it up again. The plot moves along at the pace of a dead snail and the story is about as exciting as watching paint dry. This book can be summed up with: Mind-Numbingly-Boring and Guaranteed To Knoc

Many reviews state that not much happens in this book, which is true. It’s a book about a teen girl spending four years at a prep school, but the mastery in the writing is how you are taken back to that time in your life. I actually got queasy reliving some of the feelings this book dredged up. To be able to recreate those exciting, scary, boring moments in a young person’s life is masterful.
