I loved the setting of the book, the folklore and mystery, the well-developed characters, and the grim realities they faced. I was however disappointed in the ending. Character and plot development had been so carefully and beautifully built along the way, I was surprised how one element crucial to the ending didn't have the weight it should have had, feeling almost like an afterthought on the author's part. So that's why I "like" the book rather than "love" it.
