Originally written in 1971 and published in 1974, this slender novel revolves around the proprietress and habitues of a Cairo cafe around the time of the 1967 "Six-Day War" (aka "the setback"). It's a very overtly political book, as the teenage "children of the revolution" find themselves repeatedly imprisoned and tortured.
