Manolo is the twelve year old son of one of the most respected bull fighters in his Spanish village. Many townspeople see him as destined to follow in the footsteps of his deceased father. Yet Manolo does not feel he has the bravery or desire to be a bullfighter. Through the course of the book Manolo learns the true meaning of bravery and how to choose his destiny.
