I loved this book! I only wish it was longer. Leigh Botts had a troubled childhood and a favorite author, Mr. Boyd Henshaw, who wrote Ways to Amuse a Dog. He wrote his first letter to Mr. Henshaw in second grade, and continued writing to him for several years. The main part of the book takes place while he's in sixth grade. He's assigned to write something for a school contest and turns to Mr. Henshaw for advice.
