Four stars for the orphaned duck in a sweater - and for a few other things that would be spoilers.

Love this series and this book was great. Ralph Cosham is an exceptional narrator and I love his expressions and intonations in this book. The ending was abrupt but since I have read books later in the series, I will assume there will be more to the story. I loved the trip to the Haidi Gwaii (used to be called Charlotte Islands) . Very descriptive and mystical.

3.5 to 4. I found the mystery made more sense to me if I read in big chunks. Otherwise the story was too jumpy and the cliffhangers would get annoying. I forgot how much the last chapter ties everything together. I'm happy to keep going and I won't wait 2 years before reading the next book in the series.

4.5 stars. The further I get into this series, the more I love it. The characters are all so likeable even though Penny doesn't run from revealing their human flaws.
