Iles gives a good sense of place i.e. Natchez, Mississipi as well as the differences between the teenagers of today versus those of 20-30 years ago. The world does not stand still.

liked it for the most part. I had a bit of an issue with the number of murders/deaths within such a short period of time taking place in Natchez. The Asian gang shoot-outs seemed a bit over the top. Maybe I am just sheltered but even with all of the terrible news that we can be exposed to day after day, this sequence just did not quite fit. The story was ok
