Inspector Armand Gamache and his wife Reine-Marie celebrate their wedding anniversary at Manoir Bellechasse - an isolated inn about a mountain away from the village of Three Pines. Staying there also are the wealth and dysfunctional Finneys having their family reunion. When one of the Finney family is murdered, Inspector Gamache investigates.
One of my favorites in the series. Even though it was not set in Three Pines, the Manoir BelleChasse in upper Quebec was equally enchanting. I love her writing anyways, but thought this book was brilliant. If I was not in love with Inspector Gamache already, this one cemented it. His thoughts, the way he interacts with people and his relationship with Reine Marie are so emotionally touching.
