Although it has taken me a while to read this 800+ page historical novel, it is wonderful. At first I wasn't sure that I liked how it went back and forth between time periods and characters, but as it all came together, I was glad that the author did it like that because it made everything fit together well. The story follows Parisian families from the 1300s through the 1960s as they interact with the cicrumstances of the times, and eventually, their inter-relationships with each other. I think
