Sarah Dessen is a great author. She nails the teenage mind and life like very few other authors, and this is another great story. I love her books, and so do my students - I cannot keep them on the shelves, and there are always students waiting to read them.
I've only read a few of Sarah Dessen's books, but I have to say that this is my hands down favorite. I was really able to relate to and identify with the main character. And I liked how quiet this book is, I don't mean quiet in the boring sense, but rather in the sense that this is a turn off the radio, lock yourself in room kind of book and just let the words of the book and nothing else wash over you, and also quiet in the sense that the plot moved pretty slowly. Eine recht süße Geschichte über die Selbstfindung von Auden. Über zweite Chancen. Und die Komplexität von zwischenmenschlichen Beziehungen. Nicht der mega pageturner, aber doch ganz nett für zwischendurch. Leider war Heidi (Audens Stiefmutter) die einzige, die mir richtig sympathisch geworden ist. Mit den anderen wurde ich nicht so richtig warm. Das Ende ist sehr rund. Ich versuche mich bestimmt nochmal an einem Roman dieser Autorin.
Very cute. I can't believe it took me almost 2 years to read. I was very resistant. I can't believe I was such a bad book friend. I will feel better about it once I have returned it to the girl who lent it to me.

Definitely not as good as her earlier novels, but still skillfully written in the trademark Dessen style and better than Lock & Key.
