Sarcastic, sardonic and bitter, but very enjoyable! I listened via audible, the narration was perfect!

*edited to add I read this in book form 6 years later and I still like Joe, that little prick.

So many good things about this book. The cover says "wickedly funny and achingly poignant" Agree. I got very involved in the characters: Joe, Wayne, Jared and Carly. The tone of the book felt so real - great writing style with lots of sarcasm ( love it). And the scene at the end at the basketball court was just perfect writing. I hope the movie gets made, but it probably cannot capture the tone of the author's voice. ...more

It seems that even though Joe left his hometown and his high school buddies after graduation, he never left them at all. Joe wrote a hugely successful novel about his hometown, and now he has to face those he wrote about when his father suffers from a stroke
