I remarked to someone over the weekend that all of Emily Giffin's books are about cheating. But they aren't. Not really. Just like cheating isn't usually the cause of a relationship breaking up; it's a symptom of a relationship that is already broken. Cheating is the plot of these books, but it isn't what the books are about. They're about choices. They're about growth. And here, the "heart of the matter" is forgiveness.

Another hit! I LOVE Emily Giffin's writing. This book doesn't have groundbreaking subject matter, it's not going to solve any international conflicts. But, it deals with subject matter that we're all familiar with and presents it in the voice of two characters that are very real. You "hear" the dialogue rather than just reading it and you feel for the characters as if they're real friends of yours.

Emily Giffin = book about cheating.
I am so over it and have no idea why I bought another book by her. It will never happen again. Shame really because she is the perfect blend of fluffy and sharp for enjoyable chick-lit. I just can't fathom why she insists on essentially writing the same story over and over again. Married couple. One person is unfaithful. Forgiveness follows. Blech, pass me the eye bleach. ...more

My favorite part of the book was when Dex showed up from Something Borrowed! It was awesome, I love when authors make connections like that! I liked the alternating POV of Tessa and Valerie. I also liked how there are characters you want to hate but you cant. Basically Giffin does it again with shades of gray! I think it was well written, with respect to showing the characters' motivations and personalities!

Add this to my list of "fluffy but good" books. Good story, interesting characters, easy read.
