I have checked this book out of the library on multiple occasions, only to leave it sitting on my bookshelves, unread, until I can renew it no longer. The cover of the book was just so unappealing, I couldn't make myself pick it up. Finally, I got it on my Kindle, and since I didn't have to look at the cover, I was able to make it through.

An excellent young adult historical fiction novel set in the late Middle Ages before the Reformation in England. This book is very deserving of the Newberry Medal it received. I thought it was an entertaining page turner. I couldn't wait to find out what happened. Avi has written over 50 books but this is the first one I have read. I would definitely pick up more books from this author.
