This is an enjoyable story, part coming of age, part mystery. Ten-year-old Sally O'Malley made a promise to her dying father that she would take care of her sister, Troo. But that proves harder than she expected when her mother is hospitalized, her stepfather is arrested, and a murderer and molester is on the loose. Sally thinks she knows who the murderer is and that she's his next victim.

4.5 stars! This book was so much more than I was expecting. I thought it would be a good thriller, but there are layers to the story. I loved Sally, the young girl narrating the story. I pretty much read this in one sitting.

I kept picking up & putting down this book. I wanted to feel more for the O'Malley sisters but the other characters distracted me. If possible I would rate this book 3.5 but couldn't give it 4 stars. ...more
