Shelves: ya, families, fiction, epistolary, did-not-finish, friends

Life's too short for me to read something I really don't want to read. I've decided to DNF this at page 50. That's 1/4 of the way into it. That's enough.

In this book we've got massive teenage angst, wild parties, and more sexual references than I'm comfortable with. I'm sorry some people think this kind of literature is appropriate for teenagers these days. Our civilization has become corrupt.

Now I know why we could never keep this book on the shelves in my library! This is an amazing story of a teenage boy just discovering the world. Charlie is super-intelligent, shy, eager to have friends, and facing some of the hardest things teens have to face, one of which is the suicide of his best friend. In a touching way, Charlie tells his story through a series of letters, each one tugging at the reader's heartstrings. You find yourself cheering for Charlie throughout the book, and hurting ...more
