This is the first title in the Molly Murphy mystery series by Rhys Bowen. I admit that I did not like it at first. I know she was setting up the series, but it wasn't to my taste. About 3/4 of the way through, I found myself turning the pages with a bit more enthusiasm. I will try the second in the series and see if that is any better. ...more

I'm a fan of Bowen's Royal Spyness series, but my library has been delinquent in acquiring her work in her others so it's taken me a while to start this one. This one plays out nicely for an amateur detective tale, as Molly's predicaments give contextually appropriate insight into what life was like for Irish immigrants in the early 20th century.
