In 1925, Irene Blum has worked at a museum for a long time with a man who is like a father to her. When she is passed over for the promotion she thought she would get, he sends her on a quest to Cambodia to find a hidden temple and some rare scrolls that will tell a hidden story about the Khmer people. I liked the idea of the plot and enjoyed the descriptions of the temples, the cities, the people. However I felt the story got bogged down with the main characters each having their own intentions, trying to deceive each other, going round and round the same conversations.

A bit disappointing really.
