Probably the most depressing collection of short stories I have ever read. I couldn't face reading them all but the ones I did read had characters who were flaky and I didn't care about, in plot that went nowhere. The only one which I thought was good was In Sight of the Lake which at least was quite clever. I will concede that it's beautiful writing - just needed to take me somewhere

I'm not a big fan of short stories and Munro has done nothing to change my mind. A few were moderately interesting, but I can't see myself looking for more of her books to read.

I'm sad to say I did not like this book. It was my first Munro, and I definitely went in with high hopes. I found her writing and characters too economical and just not that interesting - perhaps I was just feeling lazy and wanted more. Disappointing.
